2025 Travel Alert: Prohibited Items You Need to Know About!

2025 / 05 / 15 19

Airline regulations are stricter than ever this year, especially when it comes to what you can pack. Whether you're heading on a quick getaway or a long-haul journey, it's important to stay updated to avoid any last-minute airport surprises.

Items You Can’t Pack – Anywhere

For 2025, airlines have tightened restrictions on certain items in both carry-on and checked luggage. Banned items include firearms, toxic chemicals, explosives, self-heating meals, pets, live plants, and alcohol over 70% volume. Double-check before you pack to avoid delays or confiscations.

Allowed in Checked Bags, But Not in Your Carry-On

Some items might be useful on your trip—but you can't bring them into the cabin. Sharp objects like scissors, knives, and even ice skates must be packed in checked baggage. The same goes for blunt items like baseball bats, golf clubs, and skateboards. If it could be considered dangerous, it stays out of your carry-on.

Power Bank Rules You Need to Know

Power banks are only allowed in carry-on bags—never in checked baggage. You must keep them with you (under the seat or in your pocket), not in the overhead bin. Onboard charging of devices or the power bank itself is prohibited. Also, watch the watt-hour (Wh) rating: up to 100Wh is fine (max 5 units), and 100–160Wh needs airline approval. Anything above 160Wh is not allowed at all.

E-Cigarette Travel Rules

E-cigarettes and vapes are allowed only in carry-on baggage and must be kept with you at all times—never in the overhead bin or checked luggage. Charging or using them onboard is strictly prohibited. Keep them safely stored to avoid penalties or confiscation.

Liquid, Aerosol & Gel (LAG) Restrictions

When flying, each liquid, aerosol, or gel item in your carry-on must be 100ml or less, and all must fit into a single, clear resealable plastic bag (max 1L capacity, sealed area under 80cm). Only one bag per passenger is allowed. Containers over 100ml—even if not full—must go in checked baggage.

Exceptions:
Essential medications and baby food are permitted but must be declared and screened at security.
